Wendelbo was founded in Aarhus in Denmark in 1955. It is a family business specialising in the production of upholstered furniture where design, functionality and quality are its hallmarks. Deeply rooted in the Scandinavian design mindset and the Danish tradition of craftsmanship, Wendelbo develops and produces contemporary furniture that meets the needs of today’s world – furniture that is created in the interface between innovation and functionality, combining modernity and history.
The company which spans six decades and three generations and today has its own factory facility in Vietnam employing close to a thousand craftsmen and women specialized in furniture making and textile upholstery.
Starting from 2020 the company has merged its two excisting brands - Wendelbo Furniture and Won - into one cohesive identity and collection. For the re-created and revitalized brand - simply called Wendelbo - a small selection of international designers and studios were invited for collaboration, including Nichetto Studio, Note Design Studio, Anderssen Voll and later Sebastian Herkner.
Jonas Wagell was first commissioned to create a sofa concept transitioning between retail and contract market, utilising Wendelbo's expertise in upholstery and textile craftsmanship. After a successful introduction of the Kite Sofa Collection, the collaboration has extended to several products and furniture with a timeless aesthetic expressing a type of quite luxury.
