Design Within Reach is the largest modern furniture retailer in the world with more than 30 showrooms across North America and a catalog distribution reaching over 1 million design enthusiasts monthly.
DWR started in 1998 when founder Rob Forbes tried to furnish his apartment with the clean, simple classics he’d come to appreciate while living in London. He discovered that works of designers such as Eames, Le Corbusier and Saarinen were “out of reach” for anyone who didn’t know the secret handshake or have the patience to wait months for delivery. By giving people access to the best in authentic modern design, the company helped put design within reach.
Jonas Wagell was approached by the DWR team in 2013 with a request to design a table light. For varying reasons the project was stalled and delayed, but when Focal Light eventually was released in 2016 a strong collaboration had been established. As a result, the next project – a complete sofa range – was therefore designed, developed and managed with both speed and pleasure.
