Line Art, new illustration series for Paper Collective.

My first series of illustrations for Paper Collective in Denmark - Sketchbook Abstracts - reconnect to my creative process as an architect and product designer. Scandinavian MIND; Brace chair by Jonas Wagell for Mitab.

— Mitab, Wagell tells, comes from a long tradition of steel tube furniture for the contract market. I wanted to challenge and reenergize this typology by attempting to design a chair that appears light, minimal, and timeless.

Surface Magazine; Jonas Wagell Designer of the Day.

“After sparking an interest in product design when studying graphics, print, and typography, Jonas Wagell developed a visual language that’s at once simplistic and vividly expressive. The Stockholm native’s greatest hits—such as the curvy Julep sofa for Tacchini, best-selling JWDA lamps for Menu, and the newly launched Grade sofa for L. Ercolani—all feature soft, friendly shapes that appeal to modern sensibilities while eschewing fads and trends.”

Creator Conversations - Interview with Minimalissimo.

"For me, reduction is a means of communication, a way to achieve visual clarity. I try to take away details in order to enhance an expression or specific character and make a product aesthetically stronger. Reduction is to boil down the sauce to uplift the flavour."
Jonas Wagell in conversation with Carl MH Barenbrug about minimal aesthetic and the pursuit of clarity in design.
