Panorama Lounge Sofa (2022)
Wendelbo, Denmark

For this new collaboration with Wendelbo we set out to investigate a different solution to the modular “block sofa” typology with the ambition to achieve the same flexibility and modularity, but with a visually lighter and more tailored look. In addition, we’ve strived to restrict dimensions to further increase usability, without compromising in comfort.

Being a modular concept, the form is based on simplified volumes and repeated proportions. Seat modules are upholstered to the ground, but combined with light and thin armrests and backrests. The visual lightness of the back adds distinct character, but the shape really derives from a desire to restrict overall dimensions for practical reasons. As such, it is the most important part of the furniture and where the design work originates from.

In order to add a sense of sharpness and craftsmanship to the backrests and armrests, the edges are outlined with a large, decorative piping seam. This detail provides an intentional refinement to the rear side of the sofa, but also emphasizes the soft curvature and sensible volume of the backrest from a front view perspective.
